101 Ways to Reach Your Community

101 Ways to Reach Your Community

By Steve Sjogren

Review

Rating: 7

There are good ideas in here for simple outreach service projects. There were plenty that were spur of the moment sorts of things, like having umbrellas for when it rains. And when it does, you rally the troops and meet at a grocery store to offer umbrella escorts.

The way Sjogren sorts these projects into three categories is useful. The first category he calls a blitz, where you’re just trying to touch as many people as possible. Not a lot of room for interaction. The second kind creates opportunities for conversation and gives your church a chance to really serve someone, like washing their car. The third kind addresses problems of people, like home repairs for single mothers.

Many of the ideas in the book can be found on the Servant Evangelism website under Ideas to Change the World.
