Waits For Us

I decided to liberate a demo I’ve been sitting on for a couple of years in honor of Independence Day. I wanted to rewrite the lyrics a slightly, but that’s taking too long, huh.

Blogging Lent - Why God

I’m a little behind. I know.

I was going over “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” in my head last week. Just saying it again and again and it became increasingly dramatic. I might have moved into melodrama on this spoken word piece, but here it is. I hope it’s helpful.

I Get My Inspiration from My Life Experiences

Love (Weekend Bender)

So I asked Kenny to write me a story based on my idea. He actually sent me a pretty good version, so I felt compelled to try to meet his request:

You’re on. But since I quit guitar for the same reason, would you write me a song that has rap lyrics that sound like Q-tip from Tribe Called Quest over Jack Johnson style guitar (kind of a folkified Diggable Planets sound), with subject matter something like “here’s some crazy things that people do when they’re in love?” That would be sweet!

I swear I finish more of these silly rap songs than my more “serious” work.

She’s My Secret Weapon

A year ago I wrote a love song for my wife that some of you have heard. I thought it was time to share it with everyone. I’m not afraid to be soft and tender. I love my wife. It’s no secret.

My timing is a little rushed in some areas. I wrote and recorded this in one day. That’s my excuse.
