One Little Word Shall Fell Him

I love Martin Luther’s powerful song, A Mighty Fortress, because it portrays Christ as a victor. But the third verse has a line that I want your opinion on. What is the “little word” that defeats Satan? Who speaks it?

The prince of darkness grim — We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

      I would think that word is – Jesus. Satan trembles at His name.
      Either that or love. It’s kind of the opposite of evil.

    2. -Dave says:

      “Enough”

      Satan is felled as soon as God stops giving him license to work. That’s my word.

    3. jose says:

      Jesus, I like because of that trembling thing. I think that’s true. I resist “love” because it’s so warm and fuzzy.

      “Enough” – great. that’s new. I hadn’t heard that before, but I like it.
