Blogging Lent - Why God
I’m a little behind. I know.
I was going over “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” in my head last week. Just saying it again and again and it became increasingly dramatic. I might have moved into melodrama on this spoken word piece, but here it is. I hope it’s helpful.

You know, I’m listening to it again and I feel a little embarrassed. This kind of thing has been executed by other folks and mo’ betta. But thanks for your feedback, Michelle. We still miss you out here! You should follow Kenny back out here. :)

That would be nice of Michelle and T-bone to come back too.
I don’t think you should be embarrassed at all; I think it’s well done and really interesting (I haven’t heard others versions, but nevertheless…). You do a lot with your voice to really bring out things I’d never imagined in the text.
Primarily, I notice anger, even indignation. For some reason, it’s never occurred to me that this was in Jesus’ voice. I’d alway heard in it primarily anguish, maybe pained confusion. You persuasively put a different emphasis on the words. I’m still not sure what Jesus’ tone actually was, but you’ve definitely given me a new perspective on it.

Kenny’s right. It brings a new perspective on Jesus’ tone. Don’t be embarrassed. You are creative and get people thinking about spiritual things. It’s cool.
