Church, Incense, and Math
This has to be right up Dave’s alley.
It’s a post that shows the Botafumeiro, a large thurible (very large), being swung. It’s so large people in the front row duck. It’s so large eight men have the job of swinging it. It’s so large it affects the tides.
What would happen if it hit someone? Chris works it out with some pen and paper.

And right up my alley it is. I’m not sure all the maths are right, as it seems (at a glance) to suggest that all of the momentum of the botafumeiro is transferred to the theoretical person being hit.
Nevertheless, you don’t want to be under that thing at full speed.

I’m not sure what the purpose of such a large thurible is, besides spectacle. Is this the 19th century equivalent of a light show?
