Build A Service
I kind of dig this. You can build a prayer service based on the Book of Common Prayer (which itself is a worship service builder). I know some folks may see this as mechanical and cheap, lacking life, but it’s not like the prayers or Bible passages it spits out are untrue. If the worship service (any worship service) is dull (even lacking power), I maintain it’s not necessarily the fault of the pastor or worship leader. I think it’s mostly because of what we ourselves have brought to God.

I too can see how someone might feel this lacks life or even seems impersonal, but I checked it out and I like it. There are stages of my walk with God when prayer is hard and I find it difficult to clear my mind enough to focus on coming before God to share my heart with Him and hear Him speak. I think something like this would be helpful during those times, a guide that I can follow.
I find that I go through cycles in the ways I talk with God. I’ve gone through several cycles of journalling my prayers in the past, and at the start of those times, that was the way I felt the lines of communication between God and myself were the most open. But eventually I tend to find myself feeling tied down to the journalling, and then I move on to some other form of talking with God. I think the key is not getting so wrapped up in one mode that I do begin to feel chained to it, but rather to let Him lead me to communicate and worship in whatever way brings me closest to Him at the time. If that makes sense…
And I agree that when we find worship dull it is generally due to what we are bringing God rather than being the fault of the worship leader.
