postcard secrets

I love this idea of writing your deep, dark secret on a postcard and sending it anonymously to some stranger. It reminds me of 100 word stories or a softer world. Not a lot of words, but saying a lot.

I like how this inspired Monkfish Abbey’s worship. Thanks for the link Rachelle

Stations of the Cross

The Way of the Cross or Stations of the Cross (or Via Crucis or Via Dolorosa or etc.) has been a devotional aid to Christians for centuries. The number of stations has fluctuated throughout history before stabilizing at fourteen, but this doesn’t mean we can conceive of more or less or different ones. Again Pat has worked out his own stations worked out from the gospel accounts. If you contact him I’m sure he’ll share.

This Flash online meditation has been around for a few years on belief.net. The music is primal with text coming from a variety of biblical and extra-biblical sources.

Eh?

I don’t like having to repeat myself to senior citizens. It reveals their weakness. And mine.

Prayer for the Gray Days

dear lord,
protect us from misery
heal us from despair
let our apathy meet your passion, engulfed and obliterated
you are our hero and our champion
you break our complacency with your desire for intimacy
release us from our shackles that we may run to you
and dance in your presence

Prayer Shield Over Colorado Springs

Another story from This American Life. This was broadcast in 1997 about New Life Church’s attempt to pray for each and every home and business. Unlike TAL other shows, this is mostly one big story. A journalist, Alix Spiegel, goes to Colorado Springs to investigate. She doesn’t judge; she just tries to find the story and talks to a variety of people involved. While she’s covering the story, they try to convert her.

Pray is from Episode 77. You can do a search for it on the website. You’ll need the free RealPlayer to listen to it.
