Overheard at a Bible study

“Nowadays if you’re a Christian, it’s a strange thing, but when I grew up if you weren’t a Christian you were the one ostracized.”

Personally, I’d rather Christians were the outcasts of society instead of the other way around. Bad things seem to happen when religion and the state become to chummy. Historically, I see more corruption and hypocrisy. I also wonder how many of folks in cultures where “everyone is Christian” were actually followers of Christ. I can see the importance of truth driving pretenders into a more honest position: “I just don’t believe Jesus is God. I’m not sure I even believe there is a God.”
