Elsewhere
You ever need to get away and escape your life for a little while. You ever need to be Elsewhere? Go to keaner.net. He gets it.
Here’s snippet of life in comic form. Don’t let the medium fool you; it’s not that funny. Keaner does a great job distilling an entire story into a beautiful episode.

His Collar in One Hand
Father Brautigan, his collar in one hand, stood over Jim’s crumpled body. They were alone in the tenement; no one heard Jim cry out for help as he fell. His bones—ribs, legs, an arm—were broken. His clothes were wet and sticky with sweat and blood.
Brautigan prayed over him. He would die soon, the priest knew.
As Father Brautigan finished the final rite, Jim said to him, “God has forgiven me. Why can’t you?”
“What you did to that little girl—” the priest said and crushed Jim’s skull with a crowbar.
This was written after reading this conversation about a boxer from New Zealand who may not be allowed to compete in the Olympics because of a previous conviction of manslaughter of his five month old baby.

54 words with Will
Will from I Don’t Dance Anymore submitted a 54 word story to 54 Words, but it looks like it he’s not posting any new submissions. The last entry is from June of 2003.
In any event, here’s Will’s short and sweet submission.

Jim Janknegt, visual artist
What I’m drawn to most in Jim Janknegt’s paintings is how he will pull the Judeo-Christian themes into the present and often with a multicultural cast. Judas Kiss is set in a neighborhood park not far from the city. The disciples asleep on benches. Abraham’s three divine visitors are lounging in patio furniture in Abraham’s backyard. Abraham himself is in the foreground grilling hamburgers while Sarah is watering the grass.
The most poignant painting for me centers around the birth of Christ. Positioned next to the freeway, Star’s Inn with its no vacancy sign dominates the painting. You have to look closely but there’s someone at the door to the front desk. A pregnant woman waits in the car.
